"The future of the game, the original Next One, now is a penny stock." – Toronto Sun.
There have been some recent rumblings regarding the possibility of Eric Lindros pulling on a white and blue jersey this year. You remember Eric – when he wasn’t being heralded as the next big thing back in the early 90’s, he was pouring beer all over women in Toronto bars. An auspicious beginning to a less than phenom-enal career.
"No player can be more physically dominating. None is so blatantly vulnerable."
Actually it’s a bit more than a rumor at this point – Lindros has been offered 1.6 million for what may very well be his last season in the NHL. 8 concussions have left his net worth to any team greatly reduced. I, for one, hope he ends his career as he undoubtedly wants to – on his home ice and with his noggin in one piece. And you never know – he may go out with a bang. Or at the very least a ninth concussion.

I heard an interesting theory on why Lindros has had so many concussions in his career.
The first thing a young player is taught when skating with the puck, is to keep your head up. Lindros has always been so big, and never had the proper coaching to keep his head up, hence all the blows to the head from crossing the Blueline with his head down. Do you remember the hit Scott Stevens from New Jersey put on Lindros in the playoffs during Eric’s last year in Philly? Just brutal. Lindros came across Stevens’ blueline with his head down, and just got wiped out. I remember saying out loud, “well, that’s the end of Lindros’ career.”
I heard Boston was talking to Eric too, but I guess he’ll wind up in TO.
Tom
Perfect hit by Stevens, basically telling that pretty boy that it was Scott’s zone, and no one else’s.
Chris
Oh heck yeah Tom. Stevens did the same thing to Kayria in the finals too. Arguably the best hitter in the game.
Dave
Do you think they lack of coaching was due to the fact Lindros is so big and they felt maybe he didn’t need to be taught as many self-preserving maneuvers?
Chris
I do Dave. I also think his father/agent has been an overbearing figure in his life, and hockey career forever. I would hazzard a guess that whatever a coach told him, his dad would say, “no Eric, do it this way.” I know Mr. Lindros personally coached him for some time as a youth, and the teaching probably didn’t apply to Big Eric.

wash up lindros, can’t wait for his next concussion
Chris
I am with Ryan. I have never liked Lindros. I was terrified he would wind up in Boston. Good luck Leafs.
