Now that the month of SOXtober has come to a close & the Red Sox are the World Champions, I can dedicate myself more to the Goonary of pucks. I apologize for not contributing much the past few weeks but what can I say, I love the Red Sox and haven’t watched alot of pucks. From the sounds of it, I haven’t missed anything.
I attended two playoff games @ Fenway and had tickets for Games 1 & 2 of the World Series but had to pass them up as business called out of state. The first game I attended was game 2 vs. The Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim (quite possibly the longest name of a team in professional sports) on Friday night October 5th. Game time was 8:00 p.m. with a first pitch scheduled for 8:21 p.m. I headed into town with my buddy Rup a few hours before game time to oil up. We settled into 2 great seats within Boston Billiards and proceeded to throw down 22 bevies, a buffalo chicken sandwich and a burger between the two of us. I think Rup had me 12-10 on beers but neither one of us could figure the count out exactly! Good god we were bombed as we made our way into Fenway and to our seats located in the Bleachers.
Remember last year when I talked about the complimentary food I had thanks to a computer malfunction @ Fenway? Well it happened again kinda. After a handful of additional beers in the park I got hungry around the 5th inning, can’t be sure the exact inning as I was totally throttled at this point, so I made my way to the concession stands. I ordered up a slice of pizza from the ridiculously slow employees of Aramark working the concession stands. These oxygen wasters had about as much competency as my 9 month old. After receiving my slice of pepperoni, I had to wait in line to pay for it that was about 15 people deep (it may have only been 3 people but my vision was impaired). Needless to say, I grabbed my pie and headed to the exit not once looking back. That was the best f-n pizza I have ever had, thanks Aramark! An amazing game was played with Manny sending us into the night ecstatic with a walk off HR to win the game off of K-Rod. I even stayed awake during the ride home much to the surprise of Rup.
The next game was game 2 vs. Cleveland on Saturday night October 13th. I met up with my father in law about 30 minutes before game time so needless to say this game was nothing like the Angels game. A few beers, some peanuts and a Fenway frank were on the menu. No FREE food this trip as our seats were in the State Street Pavilion section so the concession lines were short, plus it was freezing cold that night. Schilling pitched ok but ultimately Francona was out-coached by Wedge and the Sox lost in 11 innings. My father in law blew out of the park by the 6th inning. I stayed in my seat, sober, until the final out made around 1:30 a.m. BTW – I was a groomsman in my buddies wedding a few years back and Wedge was in the groomsman party. He might be one of the nicest guys I have ever met and boy does he like Wild Turkey! He is a terrific coach and the fans of Cleveland should be happy he is steering that ship.
I did catch some of the game Tuesday night between the Wild and the Penguins. Was I disappointed when they announced George Laraque was a scratch for this game. I was hoping for was a great fight or two between George and Derek Boogaard. Maybe the B’s game tonight will produce a few fisticuffs.
Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox – World Series Champions!

Welcome back Killer. I can stop looking in the trunks of cars for you now eh? Now that the Sox are over, you coming over to watch a Bruins game? Bring the bottle like you did last time!

Chiarelli needs to turn off the radio, stop surfing the net and focus on running the B’s:

I agree with everything these guys are saying. I’m not blaming Bergeron but there is a reason Jones only got 2 games.

Rask is up. I want to see Bergies grill, they are making it sound like he is the elephant man. They are keeping him from the media intentionally to make it seem worse then it is. Bobby Clark would have played against the Sens if it happened to him. Headed to NYC tomorrow boys, what a city!!!

The Washington Capitals recalled left wing Chris Bourque from Hershey of the AHL before Tuesday night’s game at the Atlanta Thrashers. Good luck kid!

Not looking good for a return before the end of 2007. He could be on the shelf for a while.

I love the added effect of the neck brace. He is done for 2007 and with this team not contending for a cup I do not think they should even try and bring him back.
